What is the difference between composite insulation paper and pure paper insulation material?
Composite insulation paper and pure paper insulation materials have their own unique application characteristics and advantages in new energy electric drive systems and other electrical equipment. The main differences are reflected in the following aspects:
1、 Material composition
Composite insulating paper: It is composed of two or more different types of paper with different properties, usually bonded together by hot pressing process. These papers may include aramid paper, polyester film, fiberglass paper, etc., and the specific combination depends on the required performance.
Pure paper insulation material: mainly made of natural wood pulp or synthetic fibers (such as aramid fibers), without composite treatment, retaining the inherent characteristics of the raw materials.
2、 Performance characteristics
Composite insulation paper:
The comprehensive performance is stable and can maintain good insulation effect under extreme conditions.
Good heat and moisture resistance, suitable for electrical equipment in high temperature and humid environments.
Superior electrical performance, especially in thinner thicknesses where higher electrical strength can be achieved.

Pure paper insulation material:
Retaining the excellent electrical properties and mechanical strength of raw materials such as aramid fibers.
Oil resistance is usually good because it does not contain additives or composite layers that are prone to oil absorption.
Under the same electrical strength, the thickness of pure paper may be thicker than composite paper, and the cost is relatively higher.
3、 Application scenarios
Composite insulation paper: suitable for new energy electric drive systems, high-voltage electrical equipment, etc. that have high requirements for electrical performance, heat resistance, and moisture resistance.
Pure paper insulation material: In situations where good oil resistance or specific mechanical strength is required, such as oil immersed transformers, oil cooled motors, etc., pure paper insulation material may be more suitable.
